Movie of the Day- The Holiday

I know most people think this movie looks lame. But I am a sucker for anything Kate Winslet. Most critics agree that it's heavy on the Chick and not enough on the Flick but whatever. It looks cute.

It's the story of Iris from England and Amanda from America who are e-mail buddies. When they both realzie that the holiday season is fast approaching, they would like nothing more than to leave town, quickly, to save themselves from another lonely winter. What better way to do that then to just switch homes. So each pretty lady travels 6000 miles and end up learning some sort of life lesson, I'm sure. We will let you know how it is.

Thought of the Day- Vampires
So I kinda hate when people read books or see films about Vampires and say, "Oh my God, that movie is so stupid, a Vampire cannot go out in the sun. "

Well, I hate to be the barer of bad news but Vampires aren't real. They can do whatever they want. Kind of like Paris Hilton.

Quote of the Day - " I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and genuinely feel sorry for the poor brown ones." - Sir Winston Churchill

Netflix of the Day - The Night of the Hunter

I like this movie a lot. Beautifully shot and gloriously creepy. Robert Mitchum is fantastic. (1955)

Random Image of the Day - Get Your War On
I have no idea, so don't ask.

Flashback of the Day - No Doubt, Tragic Kingdom

Wow. Remember when the world was introduced to a young blonde girl from Anaheim, California named Gwen Stefani and her band mates, Tony Kanal, Adrian Young and Tom Dumont. It was 10 years ago, and No Doubt had the number one album in America, Tragic Kingdom. The album spawned huge hits, including Just A Girl, Spiderwebs, Excuse Me Mister, Sunday Morning and the phenomenally successful Don't Speak. The album received Grammy Nominations for Song of the Year (Don't Speak) and Best New Artist and according to Sound Scan, the album went on to sell over 10 million copies.

Cocktail of the Day - Allegheny

Yummmy. This drink is delicious. Great after a light meal, say a Salmon Ceaser Salad.
Here is the recipe:
2 parts Bourbon
2 parts Dry Vermouth
1 part Blackberry Brandy
1 part Lemon Juice
& Lemon Peel

Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon peel.

Also try it on the rocks!

YourTunes -

YourTunes is a section of our blog that highlights what people are listening to at any given time. We approach real people while they are, hiking, walking, riding the bus and ask them what song they are listening to on their headphones at that exact moment. I don’t know about you but there are some embarrassing frickin’ songs on my IPod. Xanadu anyone?
Tamere P. walking her dog near Runyon Canyon; Janet Jackson – “All Night (Don’t Stop)”
Aaron L. riding his skateboard on Hollywood Blvd; Apples in Stereo – “Ruby”
Tyrone L. hiking in Runyon Canyon; Young Jeezy – “I Love It”
Keri hiking in Runyon Canyon; Mr. Mister – “Broken Wings”
